 Ancient teachings meet contemporary thought for a more comprehensive understanding of our health. The wisdom of our elders (kupuna)—and their values based on family (ohana), the land (‘aina), the community, and the unity of body, mind, and spirit—are merged with the knowledge of our physicians and nurse practitioners to provide clients with holistic and culturally sensitive treatment options.
Francine Dudoit-Tagupa, program director for Native Hawaiian Healing at Waikiki Health Center, is a registered nurse and a widely respected Native Hawaiian Practitioner and teacher. Auntie Francine offers a range of healing treatments:
Lomilomi is a spiritual laying of hands beneficial for a number of chronic conditions, such as body aches, poor circulation, hypertension and diabetes.
Ho‘oponopono is spiritual counseling/conflict resolution providing positive solutions to problems of substance abuse, physical abuse, and other interpersonal issues for individuals, families, businesses and communities.
La‘au Lapa‘au are medicinal herbs that treat common ailments and chronic conditions. The integration of western drugs with traditional healing herbs and lomilomi has been shown to help diabetes, hypertension, and certain blood disorders.
Education: Combining the above treatments with exercise, fitness and nutrition training help many conditions, including obesity and related illnesses.
With the support of private foundations and individual contributions from people like you, this program is available to all. Payment for Native Hawaiian Healing services is voluntary.
