Ideas for Group Supporters

Conduct a Collection Drive: Collect HI-5 recycle containers (recycling proceeds support YO), canned foods, hygiene items or teen-friendly clothing.

Prepare a Hot Meal: Prepare or underwrite one of the meals served during drop-in hours. Approximately 40 youths visit each Monday, Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. The estimated cost for underwriting a meal is $75-$100. Meal recommendations include chili, spaghetti with meat sauce, chicken dishes, beef stew, ham and pineapple, hot dogs, hamburgers, meatloaf, macaroni and cheese, corned beef and cabbage, casserole dishes or Hawaiian foods. (Allow us to prepare rice in our large-capacity cooker.)

Support YO financially: At $0.18/pound of food purchased at Hawaii Foodbank, $7.20 will purchase 40 pounds of chicken - enough to feed 40-50 youth as part of YO's hot meal service. A $100 donation can generally purchase enough food to fill a standard pick-up truck with an assortment of canned/packaged foods, hot meal items and snack foods for outreach services.
